Watch HBO GO on Roku
The only difference between the HBO GO, HBO NOW, and HBO Max is the name. The contents in the app are more or less the same. With the app, you can get to watch all the HBO movies, series, original shows from your smartphones. As the Roku has built-in support for Screen Mirroring, you can cast the HBO GO app from your smartphone to your Roku device. To do so,
(1) Open the HBO GO app on your smartphone. Install the HBO GO app from the Play Store if you don’t have the app.
(2) Sign in with your HBO GO account.
(3) Now, on your Roku, go to the Settings option on the Home screen.
(4) Navigate to the Screen mirroring (beta) option and tap on it.
(5) Tick the Enable screen mirroring option.
(6) On the next screen, choose the Prompt or Always allow option. Choosing Prompt will ask you for confirmation while casting. Choosing Always allow will screen mirror your smartphone without any permission. We suggest you choose Always allow.
(7) Then, take your smartphone and connect it to the same WiFi network as your Roku.
(8) Go to the Cast icon on the control center and tap on it. The name of the icon may vary based on the brand of the smartphones.
(9) Now, the smartphone will look for a nearby casting device. When your Roku device is detected, tap on it.
(10) After that, your entire smartphone’s screen will appear on Roku.
(11) Open the HBO GO app and play any movie or series, and it will appear on your TV via Roku.
(12) If you want to stop the mirroring, tap on the Cast icon, and choose Stop Casting.
