How to Install Google Chrome on MI Box

Everyone knows Google Chrome is a popular browser used in all kinds of platforms. Whether it is Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, or any other platform, most people are preferring the Chrome browser due to its simple and basic design. Despite supporting numerous platforms, Google has not released official Chrome support for Smart TVs and streaming devices. Among them, MI Box is one of the streaming devices which officially don’t support installing the Chrome browser. Since MI TV Box runs on Android OS, you can easily install or sideload the Chrome browser. Here, we will show you the procedure to download Chrome on all variants of MI Box.

The following method also applies to Android TVs and other streaming devices running on Android OS.

Use Puffin TV Browser

The streaming devices are designed primarily for entertainment purposes. In case, if you need a browser to surf the internet on MI Box connected TVs, you can use the Puffin TV browser. You can download the browser officially from the App store. Even though the browser doesn’t have advanced features like Chrome, it is more than a handier option to browse the internet.

How to Install Chrome Browser on MI Box

Step 1: First of all, download the latest version of Chrome apk file on your PC.

Step 2: Once downloaded, copy and paste it on a USB flash drive.

Step 3: Connect your MI Box to the TV and turn it on.

Step 4: Enable permissions on your MI Box to download apps from unknown sources.

[Settings > Device Preferences > Security and restrictions > Unknown sources > enable the setting if it is turned off.

Step 5: Connect the USB flash drive to the USB port on your MI Box.

Step 6: Open the file manager and run the downloaded file.

Note – If you aren’t compatible with default file manager on MI Box, download and use ES File Explorer.

Step 7: Tap Install and go through the installation process like Android devices.

Step 8: Once the app was installed, launch the Chrome browser and start surfing the web.

Note: As there is no official Chrome support for MI Box, you may experience navigation problems while using Chrome on MI Box. The sideloaded apps may not appear on the app drawer.
